Summary
The Strategic Arms Limitation Treaty, otherwise known as SALT I and SALT II during 1972 to 1974, included the US and the USSR having talks. The very first SALT treaty had occurred in 1972. This treaty was an agreement that both countries, US and USSR, would limit their amount of ICBM'S. Their intention was to accomplish the nuclear parity later on. Unfortunately, during the SALT II Treaty, the Soviet Invasion of Afghanistan had then interrupted this treaty. Later on, after this event, Ronald Reagan became their president and he had then ended detente which was a huge success for him.
