The Helsinki Accords
- USA, USSR, France, UK, and 31 other countries met in 1975 in Finland
- Agreed to:
- Accept European Frontiers (diplomatic victory for USSR and relieved tensions in Eastern Europe)
- To Respect human rights (in particular the USSR)
- To make easier the movement of people across borders
Summary
The Helsinki Accords which had occurred in 1975, includes France, the UK, USSR, USA, and up to thirty one other countries meeting in Finland. The reason for this meeting of all of these countries was to agree and accept to European frontiers, to respect human rights, and last but not least, to make the movement of people crossing borders a lot easier. The acceptance of European frontiers includes the diplomatic victory for USSR. Later, these tensions were relieved in Eastern Europe which was beneficial for them for sure.
